SHOW 3 - 11PM
Audiences are saying:
“Carefully crafted absurdist theater”
“The weirdest, most wonderful show I've ever seen since”
“like a goofier, staged version of I Think You Should Leave.”
“satisfying in all senses”
About the Show: After a standing ovation at the International Physical Theatre Festival, we are debuting our full production of “Enter LegLand”. Witness our distorted leg-creatures existing in a desert of lost words under the ever-watching free trial of a censor god who makes sure all content is EXACTLY PG-13 (never veering into the evils of PG-12 or PG-14.)
Leaning on foundations in bouffon, drag, and sketch comedy, LegLand guides you through a dense and energetic world of absurdity. Incorporating bizarre props and costumes, surreal language, and warped video elements, we distort the traditional sketch comedy show into something that is both distasteful and delicious, lampooning whatever we can get our legs on.
About LegLand: LegLand is an absurd comedy performance collective based in Chicago. We devise bizarre vignettes to create an outrageous multimedia show that utilizes video, soundscapes, puppets, and drag. LegLand is Second City comedy meets Cirque du Soleil visuals if both had massive budget cuts and no censor.
Featuring Connor Konz, Danny Gadaj, and Mo Less
"Intimate and Appropriate is scenes and scenarios reflecting on the crucibles of our times that will surprise, engage and entertain you. You’ll want to see the show a second time with friends so you can discuss it on the way home." - Time Ring, Comedians Defying Gravity
About the Show: Comedian Paul Thomas’s satiric mind emerged from the pandemic unbowed, leading to Intimate and Appropriate, an incisive collection of scenes steeped in the selfie-righteousness of a country that has lost its mind. With grounded characters and the logic of an ancient Midwestern philosopher, Thomas delicately stomps through the “mine” field of identity, language, and recycle bins, putting a hall of mirrors up to a narcisstocracy that kinda seems to wanna offend itself.
About Paul Thomas: From writing, directing, and performing comedy on stage and screen; creating characters; performing stand-up; writing, directing, and producing short films and web series; and composing comedic music, Paul Thomas is a student of the craft who has self-produced almost all of his own work. As a solo artist, he performed his critically acclaimed solo sketch show Comedogenic or pieces from it in the New York Sketch Comedy Festival, SketchfestNYC, Just For Laughs Chicago, iO Theaters Chicago & Hollywood, New York Fringe, the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, and the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. Paul has also honed his abilities writing, directing, and producing short films, music videos, and web content. Some of his work has screened at prestigious festivals such as the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival, and his epic web series Ped Crossing was featured by The Onion’s A.V. Club. On the music front, Paul, Jeff Madden, and Cork Kangas comprise Lola Balatro, the post-grunge acoustic com-rock band whose debut album features audience favorites such as "I Got 2 Black Friends" and "Name That Panda."
Prior to the pandemic he took a step back to reset and earned a graduate degree in linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. A long-time English language instructor, he has been an adult education manager at Malcolm X College, the Arturo Velasquez Institute, and Trellus (formerly Asian Human Services) in Chicago.
In 2023 Paul returned to the creative front with his solo show Intimate and Appropriate at The Den Theatre in Chicago, and is currently performing it at fringe festivals across the U.S.
