ABOUT HARI: https://harikondabolu.com

Hari Kondabolu is a comedian, writer and podcaster based in Brooklyn. The NY Times called him

“one of the most exciting political comics in stand-up today” and described his 2018 Netflix special Warn Your Relatives as “an incisively funny and formally adventurous hour that reveals a comic in command of his powers.” The special was named on many “Best of” lists, including for Time, Paste Magazine, Cosmopolitan, E! Online, and Mashable. He was also named one of 2018’s “Comics To Watch” by Variety. Hari currently hosts the new Netflix food competition series Snack vs Chef along with Megan Stalter. In 2017, his truTV documentary The Problem with Apu was released to critical acclaim and spurred a global conversation about race and representation. The Nation called it “a devastating critique of the ultimate comedic sacred cow: The Simpsons.” It is now used in high school, college and grad school curriculums around the US. Hari has also released two comedy albums, Waiting for 2042 & Mainstream American Comic with legendary indie rock label Kill Rock Stars. Additionally, he has performed on such shows as Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Late Show with David Letterman among many others. He is also a former writer & correspondent on the much loved, Chris Rock produced FX show Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell. A regular on the public radio, Hari is a panelist on the NPR game show Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me. As a podcaster, he co-hosted the popular Politically Reactive with dear friend W. Kamau Bell. Additionally, he also co-hosts what he politely describes as a “pop up podcast,” The Untitled Kondabolu Brothers Podcast with his younger brother Ashok (“Dap” from HBO’s Chillin’ Island and defunct rap group Das Racist.) Hari attended both Bowdoin College and Wesleyan University, graduating from the former institution with a B.A. in Comparative Politics. A former immigrant rights organizer in Seattle who worked under the leadership of now-Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, Hari also earned a Masters in Human Rights from the London School of Economics in 2008. He was the “Artist In Residence” at NYU’s APA Institute for the 2014-2015 Academic Year and at Shangri La Museum in Honolulu in 2018.

DELIRIUM presented by Willy LaQueue

Delight yourself in the deliciously deviant, decadently debaucherous world of DELIRIUM! Chicago burlesque upstart Willy LaQueue invites you to attend his raucous 1930's Berlin-inspired immersive burlesque cabaret spectacle featuring nightlife luminaries from the Windy City as they pack up their bedazzled duds and travel to Indianapolis for THE FIRST TIME EVER!Doors and drinks at 8pm.

After selling out the Newport Theater in Chicago time and time again, DELIRIUM has exploded across the Illinois border straight into the White Rabbit Cabaret. In beautiful homage to the Weimar Republic of Berlin, DELIRIUM is a vision of a time when artists, queer people, sex workers, activists, flappers, and other assorted riff raff gathered in cabaret spaces to make joy together directly in the face of their oppressors.

Hosted by 2024 Burlesque Hall of Fame "Movers, Shakers, & Innovators" performer Willy LaQueue, this spellbinding cast is also comprised of

  • BeelzeBabe

  • Black Ivy

  • Rosemary Maybe

  • The Bunny Royale

  • Sunny Haelstorm

  • Chaotika XO

  • Tender Blossom

  • Marie Chante

  • L'Raven

And features scenic design from The Bunny Royale

Your artists have been creating customized pieces for this once-and-never-again soiree, and the fruits of their labor always come together to create one of the most dazzling cabaret productions in the Midwest. DELIRIUM conjures up visions of yesteryear's speakeasies where the drinks were flowing, the art was daring, and the atmosphere was carefree- and darling, once the absinthe goes down the hatch, there's no telling where the night will go!

His debut comedy album Sweet Nothings was released on Jack White’s rock label, Third Man Records and can be heard on SiriusXM. Paste Magazine described Brad’s 2023 special, joke. joke. joke. as “Watching Wenzel feels like hanging out with your funniest, weirdest friend; it's relaxing and utterly enjoyable" Paste also listed joke. joke. joke. as one of the 20 best comedy specials of the year.

Indy CD & Vinyl Presents

SPELLBOUND Dark Alternative Open Format DJ Dance Night

INDY'S DARK RAVE | Hosted by DJs Annie Idol & Andy Skinner of A-Squared Industries with DJ Evil Twin and live band Male Tears (LA)

Doors open at 9:00pm

Saturday August 31, 2024 9:00p-2:00a

21+ / $15 cover (or $40 with live vinyl record)

We are also doing something super fun and different at this one: we will be recording the entire set by the guest live band MALE TEARS from the mixing board and pressing it to vinyl, just like we have done for the bands Tallies, Twice Dark, Angel-Maker, and RIKI! We'll be pressing it in a strictly limited, super-short run of 100 copies on eco colored vinyl with full artwork and sleeve! You can pre-order your copy in advance for an additional $25 when you purchase your Spellbound ticket ($40 gets you entry and a super-limited LP). If you choose to purchase later (if any copies are left) they will be available for $30 at Indy CD & Vinyl. Please allow at least 3 months for the mixing, mastering, and pressing of the record. When the record is done you will be notified to pick them up at Indy CD & Vinyl or to pay for shipping to you.

We plan to do this for live bands booked at Spellbound going forward, for a continuing series called "Live at Spellbound" that will become a lasting legacy of collectible records you can keep as a reminder of the story of live music at our dark alternative dance night. There will be a connecting design theme on all the records and you could be the first one on your block to collect them all!

Beware: this event features loud music, flashing and strobing lights, fog and haze, and lots and lots of fun.

*Sensitivity Warning: smoke/haze and strobe/flashing light effects may be used in this production

SHOW 2 - ENTER LEGLAND - 3PM

Audiences are saying:

“Carefully crafted absurdist theater”

“The weirdest, most wonderful show I've ever seen since”

“like a goofier, staged version of I Think You Should Leave.”

“satisfying in all senses”

About the Show: After a standing ovation at the International Physical Theatre Festival, we are debuting our full production of “Enter LegLand”. Witness our distorted leg-creatures existing in a desert of lost words under the ever-watching free trial of a censor god who makes sure all content is EXACTLY PG-13 (never veering into the evils of PG-12 or PG-14.)

Leaning on foundations in bouffon, drag, and sketch comedy, LegLand guides you through a dense and energetic world of absurdity. Incorporating bizarre props and costumes, surreal language, and warped video elements, we distort the traditional sketch comedy show into something that is both distasteful and delicious, lampooning whatever we can get our legs on.

About LegLand: LegLand is an absurd comedy performance collective based in Chicago. We devise bizarre vignettes to create an outrageous multimedia show that utilizes video, soundscapes, puppets, and drag. LegLand is Second City comedy meets Cirque du Soleil visuals if both had massive budget cuts and no censor.

Featuring Connor Konz, Danny Gadaj, and Mo Less

From singing at a nightmare children’s birthday party to job interviews with AI recruiters, she somehow always finds herself underworked and over prepared in this breezy comedic solo show that is perfect lovers of standup, storytelling, overachievers, and the people who love them.

About Alisa Rosenthal: Alisa Rosenthal is a writer and actor based in Chicago. A semi-finalist for the Andy Kaufman Award, credits include the Minnesota Fringe Festival, the Twin Cities Jewish Humor Festival, FRIGID New York, the Chicago Women’s Funny Festival, and Artscape Baltimore. She produces and hosts the podcast Chicago Humanities Tapes. www.alisarosenthal.com

SHOW 2 - POSTPARTUM - 9PM

Marie: “I just want to drive this car right into that stupid fucking canal!”

Tom: “Please don’t. We might live.”

About the Show: Tom and Marie had a baby. Just now! And it’s bonkers! It doesn’t stop and they don’t sleep and all their stuff is right at the surface and inflicting itself on everyone. Written and directed by IndyFringe darling, Jason Adams, Postpartum is a series of very short stories about the aftermath and the open wound that is having a baby.

About Jason Adams: My name is Jason Adams. I am a comedian and storyteller around Indianapolis. This will be my 6th IndyFringe show, but this is the closest thing to a play that I’ve ever written.

DOOR 8:30PM // SHOW 9PM

This production contains adult language and discussion of self harm. It is written for adults, but is suitable for audiences

SHOW 3 - ENTER LEGLAND - 11PM

SHOW 3 - 11PM

"Intimate and Appropriate is scenes and scenarios reflecting on the crucibles of our times that will surprise, engage and entertain you. You’ll want to see the show a second time with friends so you can discuss it on the way home."  - Time Ring, Comedians Defying Gravity

About the Show: Comedian Paul Thomas’s satiric mind emerged from the pandemic unbowed, leading to Intimate and Appropriate, an incisive collection of scenes steeped in the selfie-righteousness of a country that has lost its mind. With grounded characters and the logic of an ancient Midwestern philosopher, Thomas delicately stomps through the “mine” field of identity, language, and recycle bins, putting a hall of mirrors up to a narcisstocracy that kinda seems to wanna offend itself.

About Paul Thomas: From writing, directing, and performing comedy on stage and screen; creating characters; performing stand-up; writing, directing, and producing short films and web series; and composing comedic music, Paul Thomas is a student of the craft who has self-produced almost all of his own work.  As a solo artist, he performed his critically acclaimed solo sketch show Comedogenic or pieces from it in the New York Sketch Comedy Festival, SketchfestNYC, Just For Laughs Chicago, iO Theaters Chicago & Hollywood, New York Fringe, the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, and the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival.   Paul has also honed his abilities writing, directing, and producing short films, music videos, and web content.  Some of his work has screened at prestigious festivals such as the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival, and his epic web series Ped Crossing was featured by The Onion’s A.V. Club.  On the music front, Paul, Jeff Madden, and Cork Kangas comprise Lola Balatro, the post-grunge acoustic com-rock band whose debut album features audience favorites such as "I Got 2 Black Friends" and "Name That Panda."

Prior to the pandemic he took a step back to reset and earned a graduate degree in linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.   A long-time English language instructor, he has been an adult education manager at Malcolm X College, the Arturo Velasquez Institute, and Trellus (formerly Asian Human Services) in Chicago.

In 2023 Paul returned to the creative front with his solo show Intimate and Appropriate at The Den Theatre in Chicago, and is currently performing it at fringe festivals across the U.S.

About the Show: Verse & Vision is a captivating show that seamlessly weaves the art of poetry with an eclectic blend of diverse mediums.
